Cast Glass Inclusions

Castings started as a commercial lighting product for YaYa’s restaurant. We use built large furnaces to account for the volume of glass we need for casting. And casting on a regular basis became a necessity to keep the glass at the bottom of the furnace “fresh.” So I began to experiment with ideas like casting over or against steel parts to create texture, then including the textured parts into larger castings. I have inserted these clear inclusion glass castings into mixed-media steel sculpture, lighting them with neon and LEDs.
